🇧🇷🚩🇮🇱☄️ — DIPLOMATIC CRISIS: The Israeli Ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Zonshine, said that Hezbollah planned an attack on Jewish entities on Brazilian soil due to having supporters in the country; Brazil's federal police deny the accusations and accuse the ambassador of causing trouble
‼️ "The Hezbollah's interest anywhere in the world is to kill Jews. If they chose Brazil, it's because there are people who help them," said Zonshine, citing the Triple Frontier (between Brazil, Argentina, and Paraguay) as a region where there are supporters of the Lebanese group.
⌛️ The ambassador recalled the attack on the AMIA (Argentine Israelite Mutual Association) in Buenos Aires, which killed 85 people in 1994. In 2006, the Argentine Prosecutor's Office formally accused the Iranian regime and Hezbollah of the attack. "Hezbollah was going to do in Brazil what it did in Argentina. The group is funded by Iran and drug trafficking, mainly," said Zonshine.
⚠️ However, the Director-General of the Federal Police (PF), Andrei Passos Rodrigues, said that the statements made by the Israeli Ambassador to Brazil, Daniel Zonshine, caused "discomfort" in the institution.
"It was a negative surprise since there are historical relations between Brazil and Israel. I completely repudiate it. (...) It causes discomfort the way a technical job [of the PF] is being exploited, which has only the Constitution of Brazil and Brazilian laws as benchmarks."
