The NOAA Space Weather issued a forecast for a Kp index of 7, possibly reaching a low-end 8 to 6, corresponding to a G3 to a low-end G4 on the G5 rating scale. This indicates the potential for a strong to severe geomagnetic storm, the second most intense category, just below an extreme storm. The storm is anticipated to persist throughout the night and into the early morning.
