Soon information appeared about shooting in Makhachkala, a traffic police post came under fire, and a shootout began on the streets of the city.
A counter-terrorist operation regime has been introduced in Dagestan, measures are underway to search for and neutralize the shooters, NAC reported.
The number of deaths as a result of terrorist attacks in Dagestan has reached nine (seven of them were law enforcement officers), 25 people were injured, the republic’s muftiate reported. Soon after this message, it became known about the death of the head of the Dagestan Lights police department.
According to the first information about civilian casualties, a priest was killed in Derbent, and a church security guard was killed in Makhachkala. In addition, a synagogue guard died in Derbent.
In the Makhachkala church where the security guard died, 19 people were hiding from the militants. Telegram channels wrote that they were being held hostage, but this information was not confirmed, everyone was taken out of the temple, they were safe. Jewish religious organizations also reported a terrorist attack on a synagogue in Makhachkala.
According to the latest information from the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Dagestan, four militants were eliminated in Makhachkala.
At about 22:00 Moscow time, information appeared that unknown persons fired at a car with police officers in the center of the village of Sergokala, one officer was wounded.
The head of the Sergokalinsky district of Dagestan Omarov, whose sons could have been involved in the terrorist attack, is under interrogation, a source told RIA Novosti, according to his information, the official will be dismissed.
Exits from Makhachkala are blocked; the Ministry of Internal Affairs says that terrorist accomplices may try to leave the city.
