Operation Northwoods

🇺🇸The US authorities wanted to carry out terrorist attacks against their own citizens in order to start a war with Cuba.

This was reported by the Daily Mail, citing a draft of Operation Northwoods received by the publication.

Operation Northwoods, devised in 1962 by the Joint Chiefs of Staff, involved false flag provocations.

This plan included:

  • the explosion of the American ship in Guantanamo - the scenario repeated the incident of 1898, after which the United States began a war with Spain,

  • terrorist attacks in Miami and other cities in Florida - the secret services were supposed to plant bombs in public places and attack Cuban refugees,

  • the downing of a civilian aircraft - with subsequent media coverage and accusations against Cuba,

  • attack on a US military base near Cuba.

As the publication notes, the goal of all these actions was to convince the Americans of the need to invade Cuba.

The plan was rejected by President John Kennedy.

Retire

A 65-year-old couple retiring in 2025 with average earnings will receive an estimated $1.34 million in lifetime benefits, while contributing only $720,000 in today’s dollars.

That shortfall—more than $600,000 per couple—is being made up by younger workers.
