• The U.S.-Iran escalation widened with fresh American strikes on Bandar Abbas, Qeshm, Chabahar, Konarak, Sirik, Kharg, Bushehr, Khuzestan and the Lavan refinery, targeting radar sites, air defenses, coastal sensors, missile and drone depots, naval capabilities and logistics infrastructure. Iran replied with missiles and drones against U.S. ships in the Sea of Oman and targets in Bahrain, Kuwait and Jordan, while Tehran raised the toll to 14 dead and 78 wounded and confirmed 8 losses in its air force and navy.
• CENTCOM said the latest round of strikes on Iran hit about 90 targets, after around 80 were struck the night before, including more than 60 small Revolutionary Guard boats, and said the campaign could last days or weeks. Bloomberg also reported that ship traffic in the Strait of Hormuz came to a complete halt.
• At the NATO summit, Donald Trump attacked Spain, calling it a “terrible partner” and “a lost cause,” and repeated that he does not want to do business with the country. He also said the ceasefire with Iran is over and suggested a “big” strike on Tehran, while Pedro Sánchez later described their conversation as cordial and focused on football.
• Fighting continued in Anéfis, Mali, between the Malian army and the Russian African Corps on one side, and Tuareg fighters from the Azawad Liberation Front together with JNIM on the other. A second convoy left Gao to reinforce and supply the area, but attacks on that column and airstrikes on rebel vehicles and groups continued.
• Russia banned diesel exports to prevent domestic shortages after Ukrainian attacks on refineries and energy infrastructure intensified. At the same time, Ukraine struck the Nizhnekamskneftekhim petrochemical plant, Borisoglebsk air base, the Saratov refinery and other targets inside Russia, including fuel depots, a pumping station in Ufa and an oil terminal in Rostov.

The argument by law enforcement that Flock cameras help solve crimes could be used to argue in favor of any form of mass electronic surveillance. A system whereby the movements and actions of every man, woman and child in the United States is tracked electronically at all times would virtually eliminate all crime in this country.
Nobody is seriously advocating for an AI system to watch every human being, 24 hours a day, in their public and private lives—even though it would end or at least catch all crime—because as a society, stopping or catching crime is not our only priority. It's the only priority of law enforcement, but we don't live in a "cop"-ocracy. If every citizen lived in cells like on Alcatraz instead of private homes, that would also help prevent crime!
"Oh, but even though we're going to collect all the data, we're going to put in safeguards so it can't be used by bad actors!"
Well that same justification could be used to justify the AI skynet watching all people at ...
