I heard about this meeting then found out it actually happened. Had Grok give a run down.

Cardinal McElroy — Labor Day Sermon, September 6, 2026
Sermon details
• Date: Sunday, September 6, 2026
• Location: Cathedral of St. Matthew the Apostle, Washington, D.C.
• Organized by the Catholic Labor Network and the Archdiocese of Washington; reception co-sponsored by the D.C. labor federation
Who attended the Silicon Valley trip
• Cardinal Robert McElroy — Archbishop of Washington
• Cardinal Blase Cupich — Archbishop of Chicago
• Cardinal Joseph Tobin — Archbishop of Newark
• They spent several days in August with the leaders of the AI teams at the so-called frontier labs. The engineers spoke openly about AI’s destructive elements, including the work question.
Was the meeting secret?
• Yes — unannounced at the time. The only source that mentions it, Letters from Leo, says explicitly it was “a trip no outlet has reported.” Nothing surfaced in August from the archdioceses, the labs, or the press. It only became public when McElroy brought it up from the pulpit on September 6.
Job losses and the next 10–20 years
• The labor market will radically change over the next 20 years
• Certain sectors will essentially be wiped out by AI
• Manual labor and social-service work are the ones he said will survive
• Millions of workers who have jobs now will not have those jobs 10 years from now
• His charge: society has to be at the table so the wealth doesn’t keep concentrating with fewer and fewer people at the expense of the working class

China Chickens

China is now closing mosques and converting them into barns for raising chickens as a way to fight radicalism. China officially considers Islam a ‘mental illness.’ Do you like this idea?

Lanske

🇺🇸⚡- Matthew Lanske, a 21-year-old White man, was shot three times by Black teenagers during a “Teen Takeover,” when Black teens attempted to rob Lanske and his friend at gunpoint, he tried to wrestle the gun away and was shot three times in the process, and his friend was killed.

The story, somehow, gets worse. Lanske was then able to walk nearly two blocks while bleeding out and attempted to seek refuge at a 7/11 where the Indian workers would not allow him to come inside. Lanske proceeded to text 911 and his girlfriend and then passed out due to blood loss. While Lanske was unconscious, the prowling Black teens returned and began to film his unconscious body. Two Seattle Police officers arrived and kept him alive until paramedics came. He was rushed into emergency surgery, placed on life support in the Trauma ICU, and then underwent another major operation to reconnect his intestines, which was successful.

Lanske has woken up and is responding in the hospital. His ...
