Many have asked my opinion on a possible Russia-NATO conflict.

This is going to annoy many people, and hopefully give them a reality check, but my opinion is very simple.

1. Russia had some valid strategic and ideological reasons for what it did in Ukraine, regardless of whether I condone the invasion or not. Was it successful? Arguably yes, arguably no—it depends on what you consider as the war’s key objectives. The war actually pushed two neutral countries into NATO and pulled Ukraine even further away from Russian influence.

2. Russia does not have any valid strategic reason to invade the Baltics or any other NATO territory. Any attack on the Baltics cannot be excused as ‘protecting Russian culture & language’ or fighting ‘Nazism’. If this does happen, it’ll be a clear sign of expansionism, nothing more and nothing less. Russia is not a saintly country and I don’t put it past them.

3. If Russia does miscalculate and invade NATO territory, it will backfire spectacularly and the Russians will be bogged down within weeks. A clear victory is unattainable for either side and things will spiral out of control.

4. NATO is being underestimated by the ziggers. Even without U.S. boots on the ground, European nations pose a significant threat to any Russian advances, and in my opinion, countries like France, Poland, Sweden, and so on should not be dismissed. Even Germany, which is often ridiculed by pro-Russian commentators, should not be dismissed in case of war.

5. A land war with NATO will therefore, in my opinion, not take place (unless the Russians are retarded). The only thing I possibly see happening is massive drone attacks against Eastern European nations such as Poland or the Baltics. In this aspect of warfare, Russia clearly holds the quantitative advantage & can pressure NATO strongly. But over time, just like with Ukraine, the strategic cost of such a conflict will become too high, and ordinary Russians will feel it.
