🇺🇦🇺🇳❗️— Oleshky: Thousands of people left on the brink of starvation and death
▶️The humanitarian situation in Oleshky (Kherson region), occupied by Russia, has reached a critical point. Of the 24–25 thousand pre-war residents, only 1–2 thousand remain in the city, while up to 6 thousand people are trapped across the entire community, including about 200 children, according to data from the head of the military administration, Tatyana Gasanenko.
🛑Since the end of May, the settlement has been completely cut off from food supplies. The National Museum of Holodomor-Genocide compared the situation to historical practices of artificial starvation. Residents are boiling soups from weeds, eating expired margarine, wild birds, and dogs; the economy has reduced to barter.
⚠️The city has no electricity, gas, water, or sewage. The hospital is not functioning, and in the basement, according to Gasanenko, about 100 bodies have accumulated since winter—burial is prohibited by the occupation authorities, and independent burial is dangerous due to shelling.
▶️Movement through the streets is almost impossible: the city is under a "drone siege," with witnesses reporting attacks by FPV drones on civilians searching for water and food. ISW points to the use of the civilian population as a "human shield."
▶️On September 25, Council of Europe Commissioner for Human Rights Michael O'Flaherty warned of the risk of mass casualties and demanded humanitarian access and a local ceasefire. The Head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry at the UN Security Council and the All-Ukrainian Council of Churches in an appeal to the Pope called for immediate intervention.
⁉️According to international law, the occupying power is obliged to ensure the population with food and medical supplies and to facilitate the provision of humanitarian assistance when necessary.

Milk can't sit. Bulk tanks last 24-48 hours. Then, the milk gets DUMPED.
During COVID, dairies were dumping milk (this is not an AI image!). That was a temporary issue -- negative demand shock when restaurants/schools closed.
This is a STRUCTURAL issue: Diesel north of $6.50, and haulers on 3–5% margins, means deliveries become uneconomic. Rates were locked in advance. Trucks stop running, and dairies are in crisis.
This flows into all sorts of products: milk/cheese/dairy, powdered milk and infant formula, processed foods -- all sit downstream from that truck.
We don't need a flashy trucker strike to have this issue...you only need drivers to say "not at these prices!"
